Cool for Kids Flemish Brabant Hiking in Belgium

Wijngaardberg in the winter

I know I’ve written about the Wijngaardberg near Leuven before (here), but that was back in July, and you may be thinking it’s only suitable for a summer walk. On the contrary, this is a lovely place to visit in the winter, and is therefore ideal for a refreshing winter’s walk. You’ll need boots or walking shoes, but rubber boots are not necessary. There is one section of the walk that is a bit wet and muddy at the moment, but you can walk on the rim of the footpath where it’s drier. So wrap up warm, dig out that thermos flask, fill it up with coffee or soup, and get out there for an invigorating walk! Here are some photos of my walk last Saturday morning.

  1. Very beautiful, if a little chilly!

    • Yes, I had my thick coat, hat etc. on. Am quite envious of your NZ weather at the moment!

      • No, I’m in Australia and I don’t think you would like it here. Yesterday the maximum temperature was 42 degrees and today is forecast for 38 but will probably go higher. We are having a Summer heatwave.

        • Then I am not envious Carol, on the contrary I wish you strength and fortitude in the face of temperatures I can only imagine.
